Matchroom Country Club is a pleasant and peaceful resort. A little bit of paradise on Earth. RCI have awarded this resort Gold Crown status for many years. It is approximately 3.5 miles inland and 30k from Malaga airport. It is situated between Malaga and Marbella. The nearest town is Fuengirola.

Fuengirola is on the coast and is a thriving town with plenty of bars and restaurants, a weekly huge market and good shopping facilities.

There is a regular train service between the airport and Fuengirola. There are taxis adjacent to the station in Fuengirola to complete the journey to the resort. Alternatively there are taxis at the airport and hire car facilities. A hire car will help you to explore the beautiful surrounding areas of the Costa del Sol, Marbella, Puerto Banus, Ronda, Benalmadena and Torremolinos are a few of the places easily visited from Matchroom. Car parking is free and available on the resort or just outside. Don't forget to visit the mountain village of Mijas and step back in time on a donkey taxi.

Gibraltar and even Tangier can be visited within a day from this beautiful resort.

If you enjoy a round or two of golf Matchroom is an ideal base. The well appointed apartments overlook the Mijas golf course and there are at least 60 more golf clubs on the Costa del Sol. Golf heaven. Sailing,dolphin watching,horse riding, animal parks and water parks are within easy reach making this an ideal base for a family.

The facilities within the resort also make this an ideal family holiday spot. There is an indoor pool and 2 outdoor pools. All are heated and the children's pool is shallow with feature water sprays at one end. Our grandchildren have spent many happy hours splashing and paddling there. Active family life is accommodated with a gym, jacuzzi, sauna, table tennis and snooker tables all available on site.

Weeks 31 and 32 are peak weeks during the English school summer holidays. The air conditioned apartment is on the first floor and is accessed by stairs. The view over the golf course and small pool can be enjoyed from the balcony. The apartment easily accommodates 6 people. There are 2 good sized bedrooms. The double bedroom (with large en-suite) is fully fitted and has a small balcony. The twin room contains a safe within the fitted wardrobe. There is a further family bathroom complete with over bath shower, bidet and hairdryer. The lounge and dining area are generously sized with plenty of space for a family. The lounge has a fully sprung double bed settee. This gives generous and comfortable sleeping space. The dining area has a beautiful wooden table and upholstered chairs. The kitchen is fully fitted with an oven, microwave and all essential equipment. Self catering for a family is great as all pots,pans etc are in good supply. There are plenty of glasses and jugs too for daily sangria! The dishwasher ensures that washing up can be completed without disturbing valuable relaxation time. We have enjoyed many evenings sitting on the balcony and socialising with friends and family. In the background is the sound of other families chatting in a variety of languages with candles flickering on balconies. A lovely memory.

Flat screen TV is in the bedroom and lounge area. DVD and CD players are supplied in the lounge. If you decide to eat out there is a restaurant on site and a couple of others within walking distance. They all have good reputations and serve a variety of local and European food to suit most palates. Children are welcome at all restaurants and they have play facilities available. A lovely tapas bar is to be found after walking over the nearby dry river bed.

If you want to exchange your weeks for an alternative resort you will find that Matchroom is very desirable for exchange. We have visited Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and different areas in Spain and Portugal using the RCI system.

Unfortunately age catches up with us all and travel insurance becomes more expensive and difficult to access with age and health problems. For this reason it has become necessary for us to part with our peak weeks luxury accommodation. Our memories of great holidays however will stay with us.
