Macdonald resort, a gold crown resort, and the weeks are fixed.  It is affiliated to II. Dona Lola is situated about halfway between Malaga and Marbella.   It takes about 45mins by car to get to the resort from Malaga airport.   A car can be hired at the airport or there is a transfer coach. There is ample parking at Dona Lola   Marbella is further west along the coast from the resort and has a very old town which is worth exploring and also lots of tapas bars to sample the best of Spanish food.  Spanish people are very friendly and helpful.  Opposite the resort there is a large supermarket and many different types of restaurants and bars.   There is also a market twice a week to browse round.   Fuengirola has a beautiful marina and it is a very short bus ride from a stop opposite the resort.  Mijas is another typical Spanish village away from the coast and is well worth a visit.

Dona Lola is a good centre for exploring the towns and cities away from the coast up in the  beautiful hills towards Rhonda.  It has a beautiful bridge over the river and gorge and typical Spanish narrow streets with white houses and tiled roofs.  You can also visit other "white villages" and enjoy the beautiful countryside.  There are trips organised from the resort to Granada, Seville and many other places of interest.  These can be visited independently if you want to "go it alone"   The roads are excellent and very well signposted.

Coming back to the resort itself and the apartment, it is set in beautiful gardens which are immaculately kept and very clean.  The view from the apartment balcony is interrupted and looks out over the Med and the gardens.   The beach is directly at the resort and is also very clean, and it is well worth walking along to Mijas Costa or the other Macdonald resort Leila Playa and then on to a lovely little marina where there are bars and restaurants to have lunch and then walk back to Dona Lola. Weeks 15 and 16 fall in the middle of April and sometimes fall at Easter when there are lots of  festivals  and in the small villages there are smaller parades with locals dressed in their national dresses.   It is very colourful and they are very much family celebrations.

The resort itself has two outdoor pools, one for adults only and the main pool around the restaurant and an indoor pool with gym facilities and a snooker room.   Entertainment is good on site and there are two restaurants. The apartment is on the second floor and there are no lifts, help can be obtained to carry cases from reception.  There is a security gate on each entrance and each guest has their own card key.   The site is patrolled at night too.  There is a lifeguard in attendance at the pools too, so it is very safe.  The apartment is cleaned  and bed linen and towels changed regularly. The reception area is full of leaflets for excursions and the staff are extremely helpful.
