We first bought into Club la Costa (Europe's most dynamic and innovative holiday membership company) in 2005 and have been very happy and satisfied members ever since. One of the many things we loved about the Club was that we always knew CLC would insist on a high standard of accommodation no matter where we went.

The points system really worked for us as sometimes we went away as a couple, sometimes with our children (who are currently both single, in their twenties) and sometimes with my parents who were in their 80s, there was always something to appeal to any one of those combinations - we might have anything from 1-3 bedroom apartments accordingly.

On our own as a couple, we have been to South Africa (Cape Town, then Kruger), Mexico (Mayan Riviera, Mexico city), Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Mai) amongst other places. With our children we have been to Tenerife and Spain several times, also to Turkey and Crete and recently to Goa. With my parents we have been to Tenerife and to Spain and my parents were always made very comfortable.

We have also holidayed in the UK in Scotland and in Devon on several occasions (we first went to Hustyns the week it opened!) The beauty of the points system is that you can look for special offers (this particular ownership level allows two free upgrades per year), and there are often last minute deals, you can have two centre holidays (or more!) and choose from properties wholly owned by CLC or easily swap into properties owned by other companies such as RCI. Points can also be used for cruises. I have had such fun browsing the catalogue and looking for where to go next.

Sadly all this came to an abrupt end due to a change in circumstances earlier this year. There were still many places in the CLC catalogue which I would have loved to visit but I cannot keep this going on my own. In addition to the team who manage booking your holiday with points (they operate from Spain but there is a freephone number from the UK), they operate a travel agency who will book flights and offer advice about travel arrangements, car hire etc, they also operate a 'hotel nights' scheme where you can pay for a hotel (ANY hotel in the scheme, not CLC managed properties but Marriott, Best Western......) using a mixture of points/cash. We recently used this scheme in St Petersburg and had a beautiful hotel.

Although we joined in 2005 we have upgraded our membership a few times since, most recently in 2012 which is why we are currently fractional property club owners. I was certainly not expecting to be having to sell the points. I hope that whoever buys these points has as much fun with them as we had and has a wonderful holiday experience for many years to come.
