Landscaped gardens surround a large free-form pool, allowing guests to relax in the sun or shade while taking in breathtaking sea and mountain views. The emphasis is on space here, with a massive central pool area for sunbathing, along with an island and bridges in the main pool, plus kiddie's pool nearby. The evergreen gardens butt right up to the pool terrace and come complete with seats and parasols.

Rooms are large and well appointed with all mod cons and hint of Moorish flare in the arches and pillars. Air conditioning and fitted kitchens are standard, along with en suite bedrooms, while the larger, upper apartments have huge patios that boast their very own Jacuzzi.

You are well placed for getting to Fuengirola, which is just a few kilometres to the north. Buses and taxis run through here all day long, while Fuengirola is linked to Malaga via an efficient rail connection. Airport transfers to San Diego Suites take around 30 minutes from Malaga Airport.

Visitors can easily get to the beach in front of the resort, and there is golden sand for miles in either direction. Head into Fuengirola proper to enjoy its bustling town setting, complete with harbour and boat trips. There is also great scope for bike riding, fishing and especially for playing golf.

Those with families can take their kids to Zoo Bioparc, which is right in Fuengirola, or to the fun Mijas Aquapark with its pools and slides. Mijas Pueblo is worth checking out for its traditional 'cubist' white village look. Fuengirola also has a buzzing nightlife and some of the best and reasonably priced seafood eating of the Costa del Sol.
