This is a fixed week in the high-rated red period, with check-in on the last Saturday of March (week 13), which sometimes falls onto the Easter holidays. At this time of the year, although shawls and sweaters are useful in the evening, the temperatures are very pleasant for golfers particularly and warm enough to start your day by the beautiful exotic pool.

It only takes about 20 minutes by car from Faro Airport to reach the resort. We found it to be so convenient! Once there your vacation starts with a welcome cocktail and a greeting staff who will hand you the resort activities schedule of the week. Besides the various evening entertainments, rest assure that no one of your family will get bored for your choice of daily activities is wide: squash and racquet ball court, ping pong table, fitness room with top-quality equipment, several pools, indoor and outdoor (pool towels are provided) and spa services including massages and beauty treatments. And of course, golf!

For avid golfers like we were, as residents of the Four Seasons Vilamoura we enjoy discounted green fees to the numerous surrounding golf courses. The resort has also a precious direct access on foot to Pinhal golf course. Every morning, after my 30 minute-jogging through the adjacent residential streets, that�s where I was heading for a session at the Pinhal spacious practice area which includes 2 different putting greens.

The unit has 2 balconies, one facing south and the other even more roomy with lounge chairs facing south-west, both overlooking private villas and part of the fairways. This is a spacious 2 bedroom-2-bathroom apartment which sleeps a maximum of 6 people (there�s a sofa bed in the living room). It has Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, but you do not need it at this time of the year, and a television with hundreds of channels; you can rent DVD players at the reception. It is located on the second floor in a quiet part of the resort. Normal apartment cleaning takes place twice during the week with one change of linen and fresh towels, you can ask for more at an extra fee. The master bedroom has its own bathroom and both bathrooms feature heating floors. There�s a washer and dryer in the unit has well. Both bedrooms offer plenty of closets to store your clothes and the kitchen is fully equipped including of course an orange juicer for the delicious local fresh oranges that you can�t miss to taste. The resort is very clean and very well maintained and every single year we can see that the management invests in remodelling and/or renovating the apartments one by one. The resort is gated and under camera surveillance and offers a large underground garage at the disposal of the residents free of charge.

Algarve stretches over only about 100 km and is a fantastic travel destination with its gorgeous white sand beaches to the East, and spectacular cliffs with secret beaches to the West. Faro, the capital, has a captivating colourful old town with its XIIIth century cathedral whose tower offers fascinating panoramic views. For nature lovers, be sure to visit the vast bird natural reserve of Ria Formosa, joint spot of hundreds of different migrating species. As another excursion, head for the West and spend part of your day in the lively historical quarters of Albufeira, then continue onto the European farthest southwestern edge at the Lighthouse of Cabo San Vicente for a mythical experience.

On each of our trip to Four Season Vilamoura, we never ceased to discover new cultural and historical spots of Algarve. And the many quaint fishermen villages spread throughout this region will offer some of your best authentic fish restaurants at affordable prices.

We have been a member of the Four Seasons Vilamoura since 1990 and are sad to sell, as we keep fond memories of our times here with our 3 children. But the children are grown up now and we feel it is time for a change.
