We own weeks 4 and 5 (end of January/early February) in a one bed unit at Clube Praia da Oura on the Algarve coastline near Albufiera in Portugal, and we have both up for sale. It's great for a winter break or exchange with RCI, DAE or II. Although we have owned at CPO since 1991, we have never actually stayed there! Until this year, we have always exchanged with Interval International and got some great exchanges using their 'late break' system where you can get any week available within 60 days and we have almost always had 2 bed exchanges and often at Gold Crown, high season resorts, Marriotts etc. Most recently we have exchanged for 2 November weeks in Hawaii, one at the Marriott in Kauai and the other at Holua Resort in Maui over Thanksgiving; the previous year we exchanged for 2 July late-break weeks in 2 bed units in Lanzarote and before that Jackson Hole and other ski resorts in USA over Xmas or Easter. For a small extra fee for 'E-plus' when exchanging with II you can do up to 3 re-trades for free, which works really well for us. With RCI we can get 14 points for each week and can exchange for as little as 7 points for a week for common destinations like Spain or the Canaries and exchange our 2 weeks for 4 - or combine the points to get a higher season or bigger week for up to 28 points. This year we have exchanged with DAE who have lots of resorts in South Africa where we plan to go in the autumn.

The one-bed unit we own sleeps 4, with a sofa bed in the living room and west facing patio/balcony with table and chairs and sun-loungers. It's on a corner facing west overlooking the road which is quiet at this time of year and I think it is on the 2nd floor. It has one bathroom and a partial kitchen. One of the sister hotels with free indoor facilities and a restaurant is just across the road.

Clube Praia da Oura is a big modern resort on a lovely sandy beach, with gardens, units and facilities all maintained to a high standard and regularly up-graded. As an owner you can also use facilities at several partner hotels with indoor pools, gyms and restaurants within a few minutes' walk of the resort. If you Google Clube Praia da Oura there's lots of info on line about the resort. It is by the small seaside village of Praia da Oura, with restaurants, bars and the beautiful sandy beach. The Algarve coast line is stunning with sandy beaches in rocky coves and steep cliffs and there are lots of good golf courses close by. It's too cold to swim in the sea in January but still great for walks along the coast with average temperatures in mid to high teens centigrade and often sunny. It's about 20 minutes' walk to Albufiera, a picturesque, cobbled old town with fishing boats and plenty of shops, galleries, restaurants and bars.

Faro with the nearest airport, is about 30 minutes' drive away and is also worth a visit; the oldest parts are 13th Century with an old cathedral. There are other fishing villages, old castles and plenty of good golf courses and walks around the area.

We are selling because with the changes RCI and II have made recently to their exchange systems, making them much more flexible, we now have too many weeks to exchange - we own 11 weeks in total! We have had great holidays with our timeshares but since we use these CPO weeks primarily to exchange, we have decided to try and sell them. Happy to answer any questions about the exchange systems but can't tell you much more about the resort! We have been to the Algarve and love Portugal, the pretty coastline and the excellent seafood restaurants!
