The Langdale timeshare is an RCI gold crown resort in the heart of the English Lake District on the Langdale Estate, which comprises of a 5 star hotel, a leisure club, Scandinavian style lodges and a range of bars and restaurants. The leisure club has an indoor pool, sauna, spa, beauty and massage, gym, kids playroom and tennis court. Privilege cards entitle owners to discounts on various activities.
The Langdale Estate lies at the foot of the Great Langdale Valley, nestling between the little villages of Elterwater and Chapel Stile and surrounded by fells. Langdale beck bubbles through the woodland site and feeds a series of ponds that are overlooked by the Scandinavian style lodges; it is a truly tranquil location. Sited in the heart of the Lake District, walkers can enjoy easy access to Great and Little Langdale and gentle rambles around Skelwith Bridge, Tarn Howes and Rydal Water.
Our Lodge is ideally situated within the estate. There are views towards Great Langdale from the first floor balcony, short walks to the leisure facilities one way and in the other direction to the atmospheric Britannia Inn, complete with open fires and cosy nooks.
The accommodation is on two floors. Downstairs there is a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with whirlpool bath. There are two further twin-bedded bedrooms, a bathroom and a drying cupboard. Upstairs is Open- Plan. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils and crockery. There is a Neff oven and induction hob, fridge and wine cooler and more than adequate cupboard space. The sitting and dining areas are extensive with a large dining table and chairs, leather seating, satellite TV, DVD player, radio and free WiFi. A sofa bed can accommodate two extras. The living area opens out to a large balcony with lovely views over the estate and the surrounding fells. A sauna suite, including a shower and toilet completes the upstairs accommodation.
We have loved our November week at the timeshare. The week follows the busy October half term holiday meaning it is easier to enjoy a more tranquil version of the Lake District. The hills and roads are quieter and access to cafes and restaurants easier than in peak holiday times. Of course the weather can be variable - but that is true anytime of the year in the Lake District, as they say there is no such thing as bad weather just the wrong clothing. We've enjoyed many glorious times with sunshine and beautiful late Autumn colours with dramatic and changing skies. Occasionally the mountains have been snowcapped and the lower hills covered in a light dusting of snow. We have enjoyed short walks along the river Brathy to Skelwith Bridge with stops for coffee and cakes at Chesters café, rambles into glorious Little Langdale, strolls to buy essentials and treats at the quirky Chapel Stile shop. We remember long days hiking across Crinkle Crags, Bow Fell, Pavey Ark and Harrisons Stickle; golf at beautiful Windermere, hilly Kendal and the very challenging Silloth. We have been stimulated by trips to the Abbot Hall art gallery in Kendal and evenings at the Fellini Cinema in Ambleside. We have watched our children and grandchildren play and swim in the leisure centre, have enjoyed dining at the Stoves restaurant and Wainwright's Inn. After all these full days it has been wonderful to return to our comfortable, warm, and happy Lodge.
