The Savoy Palace enjoys its five stars status as one of the leading hotels of the world from the sheer quality of its accommodation to the range of its services and facilities. It is the largest hotel resort in Funchal which is the main city on the island of Madeira. Ownership of this timeshare includes membership of the Savoy Palace Vacation Club. The club provides help and advice available specifically to help with the flexible nature of floating membership. For instance, with appropriate planning you are free to use any of the 52 weeks in the year. You can bank weeks for future use later on in the year and not use your base week if you so wish. You can request the Reservations Department for more that 1 week at a time. You could also us base week 1 and request week 52 of the previous year to enjoy a 2 week vacation which includes the famous New year celebrations, or 2 weeks in the spring to coincide with the fabulous 2 week Carnival weeks or the Flower Festival later the year.

A unique feature of this timeshare is that you get not one 5 star resort but two 5 star view of the harbour and resort and to which you enjoy automatic access for the duration of your stay. The Royal Savoy includes a poolside area which direst access to the sea. The area of the 2 hotels combined creates a small village feeling. The 2 hotels are linked by 2 bridges. This area contains shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and gardens.

The studio Apartment overlooks the pool area and contains excellent kitchen facilities for those who may want to self cater.

A particular outstanding feature of the Savoy Palace is the Galaxia Bar on the top floor with fabulous 360 degree views of the surrounding area which are quite spectacular especially after dark.

The location of the Savoy Palace is a delightful 10 minute stroll into Funchal with the option of a pleasant route through the Sante Caterina park which has fabulous elevated views of the harbour and city with its enormous range of leisure facilities. Of particular note are the new gardens on the recently renovated sea front which provide a pleasant experience on walking to the old town. The old town itself is quaint bustling thoroughfare of narrow streets packed with restaurants and shops. A stroll from the Savoy Palace to the Cable Car situated on the edge of the old town will take approximately one hour. There is an excellent bus service from outside of the hotel and taxis are plentiful and cheap.

Turning west out of the hotel there is a pleasant longer walk of 3 hours or so that will take you along the ocean side to the old fishing village of Camara de Lobus. For those more energetic Madeira has a network of paths called levadas which run alongside irrigation channels high up in the hills and mountains which can be accessed by walkers,. The beauty of these walking routes is that they can be accessed by bus or taxi or through organised tours and the walking is usually on the level. The views from these levadas are outstanding and a unique experience for both serious and casual walkers.

Madeira is a Portuguese island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a sub tropical oceanic climate with mild winters. It sometimes rains which means it is very green and verdant with a fabulous display of flowers and tropical fauna. There are a number of fabulous formal gardens such as the tropical gardens in Monte and the Botanical Gardens on the outskirts of Funchal. Both gardens are accessed by Cable Car or bus.
