In our time here we have appreciated the good kitchen facilities including a dishwasher, hob, microwave and oven, as we do not always want to eat out although there are many excellent restaurants nearby. Having made friends over the years, we have also appreciated the generous size of the apartment as it has been great for entertaining. We have enjoyed time relaxing on the balcony which affords lovely views of the sea, Funchal port and the mountains. We have also loved keeping fit by attending the exercise classes and aqua aerobics provided every weekday. The sea access has been great as it is usually quite pleasant to swim in the sea even in December. The hotel bar provides good evening entertainment. The lights of Funchal, which are switched on 1st December, are renowned and magical at Christmas and there is traditional dance and many free outdoor concerts taking place in the centre at this time of year. The proximity of the hotel to the centre is ideal to enjoy Funchal's Christmas celebrations and it's been easy to catch a bus back if we're feeling tired! For us it has been a lovely, relaxing winter warmer just before Christmas.
