In my opinion our lodge at Barnsdale Hall Hotel/Rutland Hall Hotel has the best location of all the lodges.

It is located at the southerly end of the estate and sits in a slightly raised position close to Rutland Water, this position really is special with lovely open views over the water to the west and south and uninterrupted views of the westerly sky in the afternoon and evening to watch the sun set. As the lodge is at the end of the timeshare resident's road it is very private with only one neighbour to the north, essentially it is not overlooked by any other property and the only noise in the eventing comes from the varied wildlife on the reservoir. It is a peaceful and relaxing place if you want it to be or a fantastic base for entertaining family and friends and exploring all that the hotel, Rutland county, Rutland Water and nearby Oakham have to offer - it is a lovely part of England.

The family are marketing this lodge only because our parents who own it are no longer able to travel. They have stayed there virtually every year for 35 years and it has played a significant part in our family history by entertaining and hosting a number of generations, but the time has come to move on. This particular week (39, early October), when the weather is kind, shows off the manicured estate and the local countryside to great effect with autumnal leaves falling and woodsmoke in the air. It's even better in bad weather as you have an excuse to hunker down in the warm lodge and watch the whitecaps on the water! It really is a special place.
