MacDonald's points system allows to use your points at several of their resorts, both in the UK and abroad. We have enjoyed all those in the UK. We have been part of this scheme now for many years from when our children were young to now, when we enjoy more leisurely pursuits. Our children have always enjoyed the onsite facilities and all resorts have provided a comfortable starting point to explore the surrounding areas. We have had great adventures in castles, on boats and trains, up mountains and in glorious gardens and adventure parks. On-site facilities such as swimming pools, gyms and other sports facilities have enabled us to make full use of our time at no extra cost-the children especially loved having a swimming pool on the doorstep!

If you want to explore the Snowdonia National Park, in Wales, there is Plas Talgarth, near Aberdyfi. Set in beautiful countryside and within easy distance of the sea and mountains, there is plenty to attract those who enjoy outdoor activities. We particularly loved the walk to the top of Snowdon and enjoyed splendid walks along the lovely River Dyfi. In Scotland, there are 3 resorts. Our favourites are Forest Hills and Spey Valley. Forest Hills resort is in the beautiful Trossachs, near Aberfoyle. The countryside is stunning. Loch Lomond and Stirling are not far so you can enjoy all the history of Stirling Castle and the beauty of the Loch. A highlight for us was highly entertaining and informative boat trip on Loch Lomond, through Rob Roy country. Spey Valley resort is near Aviemore so a great place for outdoor activities. For bird watchers, there is an RSPB site within a few miles. A little further and there are lots of history-Culloden, several castles, Findhorn, and the lovely Moray coastline. A trip to Netley Bridge is a must-splendid walk and a cafe that serves the best broccoli soup I have ever tasted. There are many distilleries in this area for the whiskey buffs.
