We have loved every minute of owning our one week timeshare at the Alpine Club. From the outstanding bedroom balcony view across the Valley and town (there are two other balconies ) and enjoy the beautiful indoor heated swimming pool (and sauna). The apartment offers everything you could want from a week's winter skiing holiday.

However, time has now marched on and health issues at our ages 80 and 78 has categorically ruled out any more skiing but we have not done badly!.

The apartment is on the 4th floor with a lift to the reception, and ample parking outside. Unfortunately, we have never thought to take photos but the apartment has two large en-suite bedrooms, immaculately fitted kitchen, dining area and lounge with sofa that converts into a double bed. There is plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space. A heated boot and ski locker complete the facilities for an absolutely trouble free week. (Which is fixed week 10).

It is an easy run by car to Salzburg airport or a local train to Salzburg Hauptbanhof. Taxis are plentiful and not overpriced. The skiing area is extensive with four resorts linked. Schladming had everything you need to dine in at the apartment ( large Unimark supermarket locally) plus a wide variety of bars and restaurants. Our favourite, the very traditional Talbachschenke. Book!!

Dachstein Glacier

Approximately an hour's run by public bus (free with your ski pass) The Skywalk is described as one of the most spectacular viewing platforms in The Alps! Access is via the Dachstein Glacier cable car to the altitude of 3800 M.

Salzburg

By train or car, the home of The Sound of Music is worth a day-off skiing. Visit the Schloss and enjoy traditional Austrian cooking in the historic restaurants of the Old Town.

Hallstatt Village and lake.

Possibly one of Austria's best kept secrets. The lake, set in a beautiful natural bowl of the Alps, is so pure that no motorboats are allowed. Travel by train from Schladming, change to a single branch line, alight at a tiny halt, and step down to the electric water taxi to cross to the village which is picture postcard lovely.

Many restaurants serve superb trout caught in the pure waters of the lake. If you do nothing else, visit Hallstatt!!
