We have owned this timeshare for approximately 22 years and are only now reluctantly having to sell as old age is preventing us from travelling. We have had so many wonderful holidays at The Pestana Grand and also made some great friends there on our visits.

All the rooms at The Pestana Grand are well decorated and comfortable. There are plenty of places to eat, with Au Tagine Moroccan Restaurant our favourite, closely followed by La Fontina Trattoria. The forum shopping centre just across the main road is excellent, with restaurants, shops and best of all a large Pingo Doce Supermarket.

You can enjoy a walk from the Grand along the promenade to Pestana Palms and stop for a coffee. Then climb the hill and walk back along the main road, past another Pingo Doce Supermarket. If you are a keen walker the Levada walks are also superb.

Without doubt my favourite spot on the island is the Golden Horn Cafe in Cathedral Square. It's a wonderful spot to sit outside with a glass of beer and a toasted sandwich and people watch. The crib scene and all the lights are magic, and as we are lucky enough to have week 51, we have visited at Christmas several times. The Christmas market is also great with all the cabins and the elves. A visit to Blandy's wine lodge is a must, but don't bother with the samples, much better to buy a whole bottle of Madeira!I
