The lodge for sale here is a two storey Scandinavian detached lodge within the Langdale Estate in Elterwater at the beginning of the magnificent Langdale valley. It can accommodate up to eight people and has three bedrooms, an ensuite bathroom, a general bathroom and a separate shower room with its own sauna.

The estate is a few minutes car or bus ride from Ambleside, in the heart of the Lake District, with convenient bus stops at the estate entrance and in the village of Elterwater itself.

The estate's central Lakeland location provides for easy access to all of Lakeland's beauty spots and nearby places of interest, such as Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead and Coniston, with Kendal and Keswick no more than a 20 to 30 minute car ride away.

Local walks abound here, with easy and moderate paths along the valley floor or more strenuous longer hikes up onto the spectacular fells and ridges bounding the valley; examples of easy walks being along the River Brathay to Skelwith Bridge (Chester's for a coffee and easy eating) and into the valley finishing up at The Dungeon Ghyll Inn for a welcome beer and a bite. Alternatively, seek out the stunning views Langdale is famous for and strike up the fell for the ridge walk to Sickle Tarn and The Langdale Pikes; Bowfell, Crinkle Crags, and Pike O Blisco at the valley head are each equally worthy of a day's trip up onto the fells.

Just over the ridge, in the next valley, is the village of Grasmere, again this can be reached by an interesting walk from the lodge. Grasmere has many small shops, cafes, pubs and gastro-eating. There is a little gem of a bookshop, a garden centre, as well as the gallery and shop for Heaton Cooper, an artist famous for his stylistic approach of Lakeland scenes.

Although the lodge has a fully equipped modern kitchen it is a pleasure to be able to walk out and enjoy local dining. First up is Stoves restaurant, which serves the estate's hotel as well as its lodges, then there are the two pubs, Wainwrights and The Britannia, and after a short walk through the village there's also The Eltermere Inn. For real foodies the area has several Michelin starred restaurants to visit, our favourite without question is The Old Stamp House in Ambleside. -->
