We have had the apartment for 14 years. We first saw it during a stay in the hotel and it was love at first sight. Walking into the sun-drenched rooms gave an instant good impression, which was further reinforced by the high-quality decoration and furnishings.

From a practical point of view. The apartment is warm and well equipped. Both bedrooms have comfortable beds which can be arranged as two singles or put together as an expansive double. The mattresses, bed linen, pillows and towels provided are of high quality. The rooms are all equipped with televisions, comfortable armchairs, and settees. There is a bed settee in the lounge and the apartment effortlessly accommodates 6 people. There is Wi-Fi throughout. There is an allocated car parking space and at this time of the year there is no problem with visitor parking.

Our week always starts on the 5th January, so we often arrived on a weekday. This had at least two big advantages, firstly for many visits we would not be travelling at peak times and secondly, our friends and family could come down to visit for the whole weekend arriving on a Friday and leaving on a Sunday to get back to work or school.

Although our week is in January Bournemouth enjoys especially good weather. We seldom had frosts or snow and the sun streams through all the windows of this third-floor apartment from dawn to dusk.

It is a short stroll from the apartment down onto the promenade and miles and miles of beautiful beach. In our fitter days we have enjoyed walking to Hengistbury Head and Christchurch in one direction and Sandbanks and Poole in the other direction.

There is much to see and do in the area. The open top bus trip over the ferry at Sandbanks and on to Swanage is especially wonderful. It is possible to go on a closed bus if the weather is inclement. We have usually taken a bus back via Corfe Castle and Poole which is also a lovely trip. There are plenty of little footpaths and walks to explore around Bournemouth. The bus services are excellent, and we have usually left our vehicle in the car park and used public transport.

After a busy day exploring the area, you can relax in the wonderful surroundings of the apartment, or all the Carlton Hotel's facilities are available including the dining room, the fitness centre, indoor swimming pool, hot tub, spa etc.
