Timeshare: Studio Deluxe at the 4-star Pestana Miramar, Funchal, Madeira.

Two weeks are for sale - 25 and 26 - starting 22 June until 6 July this year and every year until December 2030. This is a relatively peaceful time of year, being before the school summer holidays.

The month of June hosts the annual Atlantic Festival, which includes various musical events and firework displays on Saturday evenings (competing for the next New Year display).

The weeks can also be deposited for use at another time or exchanged towards a holiday in any of the resorts owned worldwide by the Pestana Group.

The studio overlooks the pool and front gardens and has a sea view of the harbour and cruise ships. It has a well-equipped kitchenette, with electric hobs, microwave, 'fridge, kettle, coffee maker etc, and there are two supermarkets and a bakers/patisserie among the rank of shops and restaurants adjacent to the site, if you wish to self-cater. There are two beds plus a sofa bed, TV, air-conditioning and a good-sized bathroom with shower over the bath. Underground car parking spaces can be rented, and there are lifts and stairs to access the apartment.

A daily maid service is included, and a laundry service is available. The maintenance and housekeeping departments are quick to respond if needed. The Pestana Owner Relations office two floors below are pleased to answer any queries and assist in the booking of island tours, Levada walks, restaurants, concerts, taxis etc. If you want to sample the high life, Reid's is just over the road - but you will need a jacket and tie!

The Miramar has indoor (heated) and outdoor pools, a gym, sauna, Turkish bath, hairdresser, library and games room with pool and card tables. There are four onsite restaurants, and it is in easy walking distance of the Lido area (restaurants galore!), Funchal centre and harbour/marina area, and (for keen walkers) the start of the Levada walk to Camara de Lobos - a picturesque fishing village painted by Winston Churchill, also accessible using the recently completed coastal path. The Miramar is well served by bus stops outside the front entrance to take you to and from the airport (approx. 13 miles) or into the Funchal Old Town for the bus station, cable car, museums etc - and the no.48 will take you by the scenic route via many small villages all the way to Monte for the famous church, toboggans, Monte Palace Tropical Gardens etc (much cheaper than reaching Monte via the cable car!)

The gardens of the Miramar and its adjacent sister resort, Pestana Village Resort (to which residents have free access) are beautifully kept and packed with exotic plants. A guided tour of the gardens, with afternoon tea, can be booked.
We have been regular visitors to our timeshares at the Miramar for 20 years and will continue to do so, but due to advancing years we feel it is time to reduce our number of weeks.
