We are reluctantly offering for sale our timeshare week at the Royal Savoy resort in Funchal, Madeira. We bought here in 2003 when the resort was newly opened and have returned regularly most years until now. Sadly, however health problems are now restricting our ability to travel, and we would like if possible, to pass on the week to someone else who will be able to make better use of it.

The Royal Savoy is widely acknowledged to be one of the premier resorts in Funchal. In part this is due to its location, which is hard to beat. Unlike many of the other five-star hotels and resorts, it is within easy walking distance of the city centre with its many attractions. In addition to that, it has its own private sea-front access with deep water sea swimming, something which we ourselves happen to enjoy. As well as the jetty giving direct entry to the sea, the extensive outdoor pool and leisure area has two main outdoor pools (plus a sauna, and a separate children's pool) together with ample space for sitting out and sunbathing. And for those occasions when the sun is not shining, there is an indoor pool as well.

Last year, 2019, saw the opening of the new and glamorous Savoy Palace Hotel, one of the most exciting openings in recent times in Funchal. The Savoy Palace and the Royal Savoy resort are part of the same group and there is a traffic-free pedestrian route between the two establishments, allowing Royal Savoy guests easy access to the facilities of the Savoy Palace as well.

Within the Royal Savoy there are various options for eating and drinking, including al fresco lunching by the pools and dining in different styles on different days of the week. Every night there is live entertainment in the main bar. For those seeking to dine out the resort's proximity to the town centre offers myriad opportunities including almost every style of restaurant.

The week on offer is Week 42, which normally falls in the second half of October. We have always found this a great time of year to come: the weather is reliably good (though in Madeira a shower is always possible, at any time of year!) and most importantly for us, the sea is an excellent temperature for swimming. If by chance the week doesn't fit with the owner's plans the Royal Savoy does offer the facility to change it for another, subject to availability. If sufficient notice is given this can be done at little or no charge. The apartment is on the first floor overlooking the pool area, conveniently situated just a short way from a first-floor public seating area and library, and connected by both stairs and multiple lifts to the pool and restaurant area on the ground floor.
