Cameron HouseWeek 39 (Red), 2 bedrooms sleeps 6 £3,500
Sellers Description*
Our lodge at Cameron House on the banks of Loch Lomond is perfectly located with excellent road, rail and air access. It's a great position for easy daytrip access to Edinburgh, Stirling and Inveraray if you wish to see some of Scotland's magnificent castles, and Glasgow is a short train journey from the local station at Balloch.
As part of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, this region is renowned for its natural beauty, with outstanding walks and cycle routes to enjoy. Boating, fishing, golf both at Cameron House and at the Carrick are all available. The leisure and spa facilities at Cameron House and the Carrick nearby, are 5 star and second to none.
You can walk to the jetty on the loch, just in front of the hotel, to catch a floatplane for a fascinating aerial tour of the Islands and local area.
There are many nearby restaurants offering traditional hospitality and great local food, both within the estate of Cameron House or within just a few miles.
For a longer day trip, there's the choice of lunch at the Pierhouse in Port Appin with breath-taking views to the islands of Lismore and Mull, to the original Loch Fyne restaurant on the banks of Loch Fyne. Both restaurants serve the most delicious fish, which couldn't be fresher!
For the historians, the area is steeped in history. A variety of famous historical individuals are associated with the Highlands including Robert the Bruce, William Wallace, Mary Queen of Scots, Rob Roy MacGregor, and Sir Walter Scott. The battlefields of Bannockburn, Stirling and Culloden are within a day's drive and well worth a visit and a trip round their museums.
Back in 2004, we saw several lodges before settling on this lodge, due to its quiet location away from the clusters nearer the Hotel, but within 5 minutes' walk of the Boat House restaurant overlooking the loch and just 10 minutes' walk to the hotel and leisure centre.
The lodge itself offers the highest comfort. On the ground floor, the spacious hallway leads to two large bedrooms with well - equipped ensuite and very comfortable beds, then upstairs to the spacious lounge/diner with floor to ceiling windows and a balcony with dining for 6. This adjoins a spacious and well-equipped kitchen with quality appliances for all types of food preparation and cooking.
The lodge comfortably caters for 6. The lounge on the first floor features a full and sturdy pull down king sized bed serviced by a well-appointed bathroom/shower just off the lounge which includes a private sauna.
Our time here has been magical. We've owned the lodge for 15 years since 2004, which stands testament to the many happy weeks we've spent here each year. However we now feel it's time to move on and find a custodian for this particularly special place. For a new owner to enjoy wonderful Autumn breaks at the gateway to the Highlands with so much to explore, and in such style and such comfort!
