Royal Savoy is 4 to 5 minutes from centre of Funchal with regular buses and taxis.

5-Star hotel on the coast, the gardens meet the sea.

Time by taxi from airport approximately one hour, depending on driver.

Interval international affiliated.

International firework display on Saturday night, 5-minutes from hotel can be seen from hotel, but why not book a table on the jetty that goes out into the harbour and have a meal and a drink while enjoying the international firework display.

There is a full kitchen with everything you could possibly need including a dishwasher, coffee making machine, ice making machine 20 metres from the studio, handy for that cooling drink etc etc.

Flat screen TV, DVD player, you can hire DVD's, internet available.

On the balcony you can have breakfast whilst watching the cruise ships coming over the horizon and five minutes down the road watch them manoeuvre into the harbour.

Tuesday night's there is a cocktail evening all free drinks and food.

It is a fixed week, although if there is availability for a relatively small admin fee this can be changed, year to year.

There are 3 pools, one with a centre island walk-up bar (access by bridge), one pool has rotating water feature, and the third pool is indoors along with a nearby gym, massage, and beauty parlour.

Studio sleeps 4 comfortably. American size double bed and a full-size bed settee. The bed settee is made ready nightly and put back again during the day. Chocolates placed on bed each day after room serviced.

Interval International is the exchange company I have used, exchanged with a two bedroomed apartment at Calahonda Spain. Could have exchanged for a Caribbean cruise at greatly reduced price but was unable to use due to other commitments.

Places to see, one must see the Japanese gardens (allow full day fantastic) accessible by chairlift or road recommend chairlift views amazing. The downhill sledge run is a must, quite an experience. The 'A' houses are quite unique. Nuns valley is breath-taking, this we were told is where the nuns would hide when the pirates came. There are beautiful Nevada walks, a tour inside the extinct volcano, wonderful museum, Winston Churchill painted in one of the nearby villages, even Margaret Thatcher visited, the list could go on forever.

There are plenty of eating out places old and new town.
