where you can watch the cruise ships come into harbour and the sunset over the ocean from the terrace. The apartment features a fully equipped kitchen, large bedroom, separate bathroom and a spacious lounge.

The resort has two restaurants - we liked the one down by the pool best of all. Guests can enjoy the lovely outdoor pool and private access to the sea, if you're feeling brave!

The lively centre of Funchal is only a 10-minute walk away, where you will find many bars and restaurants. Within the local area of the resort there are plenty more restaurants.

In the city, there are many attractions including Blandy's Wine lodge, where you can sample the locally produced wine. There is also the cable car ride to the Botanical Gardens.

A short distance away there are two excellent golf courses- Palheiro and Santo da Serra- both boasting fantastic views of the coastline and mountains.

There are also the stunning Levada walks of which the most challenging and beautiful, is between Pico do Arieiro and Pico Ruivo the island's highest peaks.
