Royal Savoy ResortWeek 27 (Red), 1 Bedroom sleeps 4 SOLD
Sellers Description*
We first visited Madeira in 2002 after the island was recommended to us as a destination for a quiet, relaxing holiday. On our second day we found the Royal Savoy, purely by chance and purchased our first apartment the same day. A couple of years later we upgraded to the one we are now selling as well as purchasing a second week. We are only letting go of this week as we are now both retired and since the arrival of grandchildren do not have need of two weeks. This apartment will be available until 2032.
The resort offers an excellent standard of accommodation together with a service to match. In fact, when we return each year it feels as though we are going to meet old friends rather than just taking a holiday.
There are two outdoor pools, one indoor and if you are feeling adventurous there is direct access to the sea. The restaurant and bars are excellent and maintain very high standards, including a dress code.
This hotel was built on reclaimed land and designed so that all the apartments offer a sea view. Ours which is on the second floor overlooks the bay towards the famous Reeds Hotel. It can be accessed by either stairs or lift.
The room is beautifully furnished, with a separate bedroom, two bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen. There is a good-sized balcony with table and chairs. TV and Wi-Fi are also provided.
When you leave the hotel, turn left, and have a stroll along to the modern shopping mall. Turn right and you are just a short walk from the capital Funchal, where there is no shortage of great places to eat and drink in a really relaxed environment. From Funchal you can take the cable car to the wonderful gardens at Monte and if feeling brave take a toboggan ride back down. If not, you can return on the car, or walk. Both offer wonderful views. There are different walks available for all levels from a gentle stroll to the more taxing Levada walks that follow the streams which run down the hillsides.
There are also many organised trips available which can be booked through the resort. I would highly recommend a visit to the Nuns Valley or a trip into the mountains where you drive through the cloud level for a most atmospheric experience. The Botanical Gardens is also well worth a visit.
I can honestly say that in all the years we have visited the island we have never been disappointed and look forward to many more holidays there.
When we purchased our first apartment it was pointed out by the resort that we were not buying a 'time share' but paying to become a member of the Royal Savoy Hotel Holiday Resort and that is exactly how they make you feel.
The advantage of being a member is that although you are purchasing week 27, which is the first week in July, subject to notification and an administration fee this can be swapped for another week, banked for the following year, so that you could take two weeks in one year, or you could rent it, all arranged through the vacation club.
I could go on, but if you enjoy relaxing, luxurious holidays then the Royal Savoy and Madeira will not disappoint.
