Summer Bay Resort is an R.C.I Gold Crown affiliated resort on Highway 192 in Kissimmee, Florida, U.S.A. The resort is approximately 28 miles from Orlando International Airport.

Summer Bay is within easy driving distance from Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld and many other attractions. Kissimmee old town is certainly worth a visit, with its unique individual shops, bars and restaurants and occasional events at the weekend.

The resort itself is quite central as it takes approximately an hour to drive to Daytona Beach on the Atlantic coast and Busch Gardens, near Tampa on the Gulf coast.

Summer Bay is ideal for couples and families with children. Summer Bay sits on the edge of a lake and has a beach with boating and fishing available. There is an onsite swimming pool and a children`s pool, there is also a Jacuzzi/ hot tub. There is a playground, fitness centre and games room, also onsite there is a restaurant, snack bar and pool bar.

The timeshare is a three-bedroom, three-bathroom lockout, which sleeps 8 but privacy for 6 and is on the points system. This give you the flexibility to use it to suit your needs, if sometimes you only require a I bedroom or 2-bedroom, requiring fewer points, thus saving points for the following year.

In December each year you receive an invoice for the coming year, showing the unit number and allocated week, 27 and annual assessments. The points are floating and can be used anytime apart from, I believe, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Depending when you book, you might not be allocated your actual unit, but as they are all basically the same we did not find this a problem.

Each unit has air conditioning, television in every room, kitchen, large fridge, and washer/ dryer. There is parking close to the unit.

The reason for selling our timeshare. We live in Scotland and owing to age and health problems, flying long haul is becoming more difficult, especially the cost of travel insurance.

Being a member of R.C.I you can visit many places in many countries and with Gold Crown you know you will be staying in excellent accommodation. We have exchanged to a few places in Europe and once in Canada, but mostly in America.

We have used our points to visit Marco Island, Naples, Pompano Beach, Sarasota, Palm Bay, Daytona Beach, Hilton Head Island and Myrtle Beach.

The year I retired we took friends to Phoenix, hired a car, and travelled to Sedona, stayed for three nights then drove to Las Vegas, stayed three nights, moved on to San Clemente, stayed for a week, then on to Lake Tahoe for five days, before driving to San Francisco for a final two days before flying home. This was all accomplished using our points and R.C.I.
