Set along the fairway of the Amarilla Golf and Country Club complex at San Miguel de Abona on Tenerife, the Laguna offers holiday bungalows and terraced villas. The golf club is one of Tenerife’s best championship courses, and a stay here gives value for money over and above other nearby hotels.

Reviews praise the cleanliness of the properties as well as mentioning the need for a car to get around the huge golfing complex as well as to nearby attractions. Peace, quiet and a golfers’ paradise is the general opinion, and the villas and bungalows are well-established and popular.

All accommodation is set at the far end of the golfing complex, and comes with fully-equipped kitchens with fridges, coffee machines, microwaves, washing machines and dishwashers. Lounge areas have satellite TVs, video or DVD players, and the large patios have seating.

The golf club itself is PGA approved and has been home to several championship tournaments. The villa complex holds a swimming pool, driving range and restaurant, and nearby San Miguel de Abona is the real Tenerife away from the purpose-built tourist towns.

One of the oldest of Tenerife’s settlements, this traditional hill town’s wooden balconied homes, cobbled streets and 18th century buildings are totally charming. Two excellent restaurants, several local eateries and the laid-back nightlife in the bars are overlooked by ancient San Miguel Castle.
