Underscar has been our 'peaceful corner of paradise' for the last 18 years. It is a small group of 25 -luxury one, two and three-bedroom lodges and apartments which nestle in the foothills of Skiddaw with lovely views over Keswick, Derwentwater and the surrounding mountains in Cumbria in the English Lake District. Manchester, Liverpool, and Glasgow airports are within 2 hours drive and the M6 motorway is 20 minutes by car.

The resort was built in 2000 and has been maintained to a very high standard. The resort enjoys a 'Visit England' 5-star rating. Each owner has a dedicated car parking space (with additional spaces for guests) and there are beautiful water gardens, an indoor swimming pool with steam and sauna rooms and jacuzzi, together with a small gym, beauty salon and a licensed bistro serving excellent meals, as an alternative to self-catering.

Our lodge is on 2 floors, with 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the ground floor and a lounge, kitchen diner and balcony on the upper floor providing superb views. The kitchen has a hob, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, and microwave. Free Wi-Fi connection, Sonos music and Sky TV is included. Electricity and gas are charged as used shortly after using the week. The lodge can sleep 6 (with a pull-out bed for 2 upstairs) and cots and high chairs can be provided.

Our week 18 is fixed and is the first week in May, a lovely time in the Lake District with bluebells, daffodils, and lambing season to be enjoyed. It coincides with the Bank Holiday Monday at the beginning of May. It is much quieter in the Lake District than in the busy summer school holiday period. Changeover day is Sunday, usually much better for travelling by road. If an owner cannot use a week in any year it can be swapped with other owners for a different week, let out privately or through the Underscar management staff or banked with Dial and Exchange to use credits at other resorts. We have used all these options successfully when needed.

Even after 18 years we are still discovering new gems from tough mountain walks, gentle strolls round the lakes, homemade food in local pubs, the local theatre and cinema in Keswick, a lovely English small market town. There are also steam train rides, trips on lake launches, sailing, canoeing, cycle hire, golf, and fishing all nearby.

We are offering this week at a very competitive price and hope that any new owner will enjoy this 'peaceful corner of paradise' as much as we have.

We have owned the lodge for 18 years. We have 2 other weeks here which we will retain, but new grandchildren mean we want to spend this week in Scotland with them, hence the reluctant decision to part with this popular week.
