The Grand in Funchal is a 5* Gold Crown resort in its own magnificent grounds with two separate pools; the resort is superbly finished with magnificent views over the ocean below it. The public rooms are superbly large light and airy having immediate access on to the grounds and pools. The apartment on the second floor is very close to the lifts; it looks out from its own balcony on to the flower filled surround immediately below then on to the grounds and pools. The in-house restaurants are superb with dining being outside or inside - champagne is standard for breakfast! The staff have been there a long time and are great fun. The town centre is a modest walk or there are fine buses, a great selection of excellent restaurants is within walking distance- our favourite being The Real Canoa (Bruno's) 3 minutes up the road. We have always enjoyed our stays at The Grand, knowing the staff as friends - but must move on hence our wish to sell.
