Loch Rannoch Highland ClubWeek 42 (Red), Studio sleeps 2 SOLD
Sellers Description*
'An ideal pad for two', said the salesman way back in 1978 when we bought the Studio together with the Highland Lodge, more appropriate for the family and mostly coinciding with half-term, and with scarcely a miss in 40 years they have provided an annual fixed retreat to enjoy the Rannoch Moor autumn colours. Timeshare was in its infancy. The Lodge was only half-built when we signed the contract but chosen for its slightly detached position and excellent elevation, looking straight down the Loch towards Rannoch Station, the Road to the Isles and across to Glencoe, with the majesty of Schiehallion just around the corner.
Currently the Club has stable Management with its own Committee, fees strictly controlled and competitive. Furnishings and equipment, which initially reflected First Class Hotel standards, still do, and this one which had the misfortune of a fire a few years ago has now undergone complete refurbishment.
Activities abound. Climbers have Schiehallion -- nothing to beat the view from the top on a good day. Less adventurous walkers can explore the foothills and terrain on both sides of the Loch. The Road to the Isles from Rannoch Station or an hour's walk to a tiny bothy on Loch Con where we have had many a lunch, outside on a good day inside on a bad one, have been two of our regulars, and always accompanied by the roar of the rutting deer as the hunting season draws to a close.
Further afield lies the possibility of a day trip by train through ecstatic unspoilt scenery to Fort William or Mallaig or you may alight at the first stop (Corrour) and walk back 12 miles over the moors. Motorists may drive north to the Cairngorm National Park, (Braemar, Balmoral and Speybridge), returning via Aviemore, south to Loch Lion and Killin and back via Loch Tay, or west to Glencoe. More traditional and shop-hungry tourists have Blair Atholl Castle, the incredible House of Bruar shopping centre and theatregoers the joy of an evening at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
