The Grand is a spectacular spacious 5* Gold Crown resort, built and finished to a very high standard, on its own promontory on the edge of Funchal, with excellent links into town and local villages several of which are easily walkable.

The apartment is a deluxe penthouse in the centre of the hotel (by the lifts) with sea-facing roof-terrace, and balcony (large enough to dine four) overlooking the fine gardens and pools. There are three restaurants and a splendid lounge-bar looking on to the gardens, a Pool-Bar serving the three pools (one dedicated to adults only) and there is an indoor pool with sauna, Jacuzzi, spa and hairdressing salon. There is a small shop in the hotel.

The Forum Madeira Shopping Centre (with Pingo Doce for fresh food and bakery) is 5-minute's walk, and there are several fine restaurants the same distance. Week 34 can be banked or used in other Pestana resorts worldwide. The lease runs till 2033 which cost us £9,000 - we are selling because our children are now grown up and holiday elsewhere.
