Alto Club is located about 45 minutes west of Faro Airport in the fishing village of Alvor. Over the years Alvor has grown and it is a now a busy holiday destination catering both to families and golfing groups while retaining the feel and atmosphere of the fishing village. Alvor lies at the mouth of the Rio Alvor and has a long golden beach together with river frontage which has been developed in recent years to provide bar restaurants along a promenade. In the village itself, there are numerous restaurants and bars with those nearest the harbour area concentrating on grilling fresh fish on the barbeques. Alvor is almost exactly equidistant between Portimao and Lagos both of which can be easily reached by frequent public transport. Lagos in particular offers the opportunity for a very pleasant day out and the chance to visit the marina with its quayside restaurants. In addition access is easily obtained to the Monchique Mountains and of course all the surrounding golf courses including Penina, the first course established in the Algarve, Pestana Alto which was the last course designed by Sir Henry Cotton and the 2 courses at Lagos.

Alto Club is a well-established resort offering both villas and apartments which are privately owned as well as a number of timeshare apartments. The golden beach is within easy walking distance over level ground as is the village with its range of cafes and bars. The timeshare apartments are separately maintained and they have retained Gold Crown status with RCI since the club opened. Note that many of the reviews on Tripadvisor refer to privately owned apartments. Common facilities on site are outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a gymnasium, sauna, tennis courts, putting green all set in beautifully maintained gardens with shady areas to enjoy.

The timeshare apartments are fully equipped having full kitchens (including washing machine), flat screen TVs, DVD player, aircon and dehumidifier. This apartment has a distant view of the sea from its south west facing large balcony where pre-dinner drinks can be enjoyed watching the sun set behind Lagos. The apartment has 2 double bedrooms, one having an en-suite bathroom. There is a separate full size shower room and a sofa bed in the lounge giving sleeping for a maximum of 6. The apartment is on the ground floor with a garage space in the basement of the block.
