We have had this timeshare in the beautifully maintained Pestana Grand 5 star hotel since 2004 and have ownership till 31/12/2033.

Should you wish to, there is the opportunity to exchange your week to other resorts or bank it for another time. Unfortunately, due to our age and illness travelling has become difficult for us, so we have decided to sell.

The timeshare falls on week 43 which is normally the UK Buckinghamshire schools October half term.

The apartment is situated on the 5th floor which has its own wide balcony which can be accessed from through patio doors from both the bedroom and the lounge. The views consist of the Atlantic ocean to one side, hotel grounds and entrance and to the other side a view of a small banana plantation behind which is a church on a hill, the church is lit up at night.

The air conditioned apartment provides a double sofa bed in the sitting/dining area and the double bedroom has a TV and safe built within large wardrobes, the bathroom contains a bidet, toilet, washbasin and bath/shower with complimentary toiletries, bath towels and bath robes with daily maid service. The kitchen is fully equipped and also contains an iron and board.

The Pestana Grand can be reached from Funchal airport via shuttle bus which can be found just outside the airport exit. We have used this mode of travel and found it very straight forward with a short walk down to the hotel, it took about 30 - 40 minutes. Should you decide to hire a car use of the underground carpark is available at hotel, you do need to register the car at reception but there is no charge.

The Hotel has beautiful grounds with seating and sea views containing 2 large outdoor pools, sun loungers, outdoor bar, an indoor pool, children's pool and play area, gym, sauna, steam room, 3 restaurants, bar and some entertainment in the evenings. Use of the gym, sauna, Turkish steam room, pools and sun loungers are all free there is also a hairdresser and massage/beauty therapies available for various prices.

There are two supermarkets within easy walking distance of the hotel. One is within the Madeira Forum a large shopping mall about 5 minutes walk away which contains a variety of shops and eating places. There are also a number of restaurants to suit all tastes around the hotel.

A courtesy bus runs frequently throughout the day from the hotel to Funchal and back, there are also frequent local buses and reception will order taxi's should you require one.

Taking a 3 mile walk along the coastline you reach Funchal and in the other direction walk about 3-4 miles to Camara do Lobos, where Winston Churchill spent time painting.
