The North Eastern Caribbean islands, including Saint Martin/Sint Maarten, were affected by the major hurricane Irma on the first week of September 2017. On both the Dutch and French sides of the island winds caused damages, to various levels, to public infrastructures and private properties. Happily, this terrible event has been used as an opportunity to build new infrastructure on the Island and for properties to be refurbished. The Sapphire Beach Club Resort has reported that the work is nearing completion with the refurbishment. According to local media the number of visitors arriving at the airport has been higher than expected. All the casinos and all the bars and most restaurants are operational. All activities such as diving, scuba diving, snorkelling, parasailing, and day cruises are running. At the Resort there are many activities such as courses in aqua gym, fitness, and Pilates. The fitness room is open 24/7.

Now is an excellent time to holiday on the Island and the cost of a week's rental at the Sapphire Beach Club Resort is very similar to the purchase price of this week (week 22). The Resort is affiliated to RCI and though this week was previously part of the RCI Points Scheme (with a value of 33,000 points) it was surrendered from the Scheme to facilitate the sale.
