The Carrick at Loch Lomond, Scotland. The Carrick is a 5* luxury resort on the banks of Loch Lomond, in Scotland's first national park, and is often referred to as the gateway to the Highlands. The resort is less than half an hour from Glasgow and its Airport, is just over an hour from Edinburgh and is part of the Cameron House estate managed by QHotels.

The resort boasts access to world class facilities - including a championship golf course designed by Doug Carrick, driving range, golf shop, various bars, restaurants (including the famous Michelin starred Martin Wisharts located at Cameron House), swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, squash, tennis, children's activities, and - our favourite feature - a very special award-winning spa with a rooftop infinity pool which owners have exclusive access to. The resort can also organise all sorts of activities including off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting and canoe trips.

On offer is fixed week 42 (half term school holiday week in many parts of the UK). The Lodge is a 3 bedroom/sleep 8, stone-built, traditionally-styled detached coach house - one of only two coach houses on the resort. The lodge has an extensive terrace overlooking the 16th hole, and the house itself has spectacular views over the Loch up to Ben Lomond, due to its unique positioning. It has parking for two cars, and is only a 5 minute stroll to most of the resort facilities.

On the ground floor there is a large master suite with access to the terrace, and has an additional two twin bedrooms - all bedrooms are ensuite. Upstairs there is a very large open plan living and dining area with a vaulted ceiling. The kitchen is fully equipped with the latest mod cons (two fridges, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc). The 1st floor also has a study area with a pull down double bed, and has a fourth bathroom, completed with sauna. The whole lodge is furnished to the highest standard and has leading TV/stereo technology by Bang and Olufsen.

We have enjoyed many amazing holidays at the Carrick and because of QLodges internal exchange function for owners, we have also experienced other resorts such as Slaley Hall in Northumberland and Belton Woods in Lincolnshire. We love the highlands of Scotland so much with its spectacular views and wildlife, that we have invested in a permanent house in the area, and so are reluctantly selling our timeshare.
