This large studio is on the seventh floor of the Fortina Tower (twenty stories high) which is attached to the Fortina Hotel. It is furnished to a high specification and contains a king sized bed and a large well equipped bathroom. There is a good balcony overlooking the sea inlet separating Silema from Valetta and leading to the marina. The balcony faces south so it has sunlight all day long.
There are three excellent specialist restaurants on the ground floor as well as a large general restaurant in the main hotel. In the basement there is a full sized swimming pool and beside it is a large hydrotherapy pool attended daily by a trainer who oversees exercise classes. These facilities have been used by the English football team in the past. There is also a spa with all sorts of exotic therapies. The outdoor swimming pool is not always open in week twelve. Nearby there are lots of restaurants of many nationalities. Also a wide range of shops including M&S, jewellers etc. The island of Malta has an excellent, if slightly antiquated, bus service with a stop near to the Tower and a regular service to the main depot in Valettata (five minutes) where one can proceed to any parts of a most interesting island. There are historical ruins etc. St Paul was shipwrecked on Malta and one can visit the small cave where he slept.
At that time of year the north west of Malta is ablaze with wild flowers -lovely to take a trip there. There Is a renowned glass factory In the centre of Malta near the old aerodrome used by British planes during world war two. One can get close to the glass blowers and see how they make all sorts of beautiful items. Valetta Is also a city one can visit repeatedly. There is an Interesting opera house and week twelve may take in Easter occasionally when there are religious processions. There is a very beautiful and renowned cathedral. The Gardens overlook the world famous Grand Harbour. Beside Valetta there iS a good golf course. From the resort it is a short walk to the promenade along which one may have a lovely (two mile approximately) stroll to the next town -St. Paul where one may have a good lunch before returning.
By bus one can go to the ferry to Gozo -well worth a visit. By boat it is a four hour journey to Sicily ! !
