Our timeshare is a spacious air conditioned one bedroomed apartment (84m2) maintained to the highest standard and suitable for 4 persons occupancy in Madeira situated within the Residence at 4* Porto Mare hotel week number 48 - 1st week in December (ideal for catching some winter sun before Xmas ) Change over day is Monday. The expiry of the lease is December 2033. The apartment is on the 1st floor accessible by 3 lifts.

Distance to the airport is about 20 miles that takes 30 mins by taxi. The friendly staff at the residence will arrange transfers for you if required which works out cheaper as they have special rates for residents. Funchal the capital is just under 2 miles away easily accessible by either a lovely walk past the famous Reeds Palace were you can have afternoon tea or by hotel shuttle bus, or inexpensive frequent public transport. Parking is also available on site.

The apartment has a fully fitted kitchen incl Fridge, Microwave, Dishwasher, Oven, 4 Ring Burner, Coffee machine, Pots, Pans and a full set of utensils.

There is one bedroom that has a supersized kingsize comfortable bed (its as wide as two double beds put together!) and television with on-suite bathroom. The bathroom has a bath, shower bidet and toilet that leads onto a dressing room and a very large walk-in shower. There are lockable doors to enable privacy to self contain the en-suite from the walk in shower and dressing room area which can also be accessed from the living room. There is plenty of wardrobe and hanging space and a large patio door in the bedroom leads directly onto a private patio and grassed garden area full of exotic flower borders that is exclusive to the owners apartments situated in our part of the Residence. (approx. 10 apartments) This creates a lovely tranquil and peaceful area to have breakfast and relax. There are direct views over the Lido and Atlantic Ocean from the gardens. There are also sun loungers for each apartment in the garden area.

The living room has a light comfortable feel with modern furniture (large settee and two arm chairs, low occasional table) and a dining area (large dining table with 4 chairs) large flat screen tv and dvd player with stereo sound and wifi connection. There is also a separate wardrobe in the entrance hall. The settee converts into a comfortable double bed. There is access to a toilet and shower room without having to go into the bedroom to use the on suite. A large patio door also leads out to the patio and private garden.

The resort is affiliated to RCI, (Gold Crown Resort) and available on-site spotless facilities that include 3 indoor/outdoor Swimming pools, 2 Jacuzzis, Sauna, Gym, Wonderful Spa offering all sorts of treatments, Games room, and 4 Restaurants. Our apartment is ideally situated for access to the indoor pools, spa, jucuzzi, gym, games room, mini golf and children's play area. Which are literally 5 minutes walk away from the apartment. The whole complex is spacious and beautiful and maintained to the highest standards. The grounds are set in acres of tropical gardens. The Eden Mare hotel situated within the grounds offers evening entertainment and daytime activities so you never are far away from the action. But far enough away not to be bothered by noise if you prefer a quite relaxing snooze on the sunbed or to read a book.

There is a lovely promenade just outside the Residence which is a perfect for a slow stroll or morning jog. Just along the promenade there is a Scuba Diving Centre. A variety of restaurants and cafes serving local traditional cuisine as well as Italian and Chinese are very close and really reasonably priced should you choose to eat out away from the restaurants in the resort. There are several shops and supermarkets including a small Shopping Centre within the close vicinity. (5 minutes walk)
There is even a great little Jazz club that we visited often during our stays they serve great food and music. Its only 10 minutes walk away.

We have had some happy times in our apartment but as my husband has now a keen skier he prefers to spend most of our holiday time in the snow a long way away from the gentle mild climate that the island of Madeira offers.
