This is a Studio Apartment on the FIRST FLOOR of the Royal Savoy Resort, Funchal, Madeira.  The apartment provides privacy for two, but can sleep four.  There is an annual Vacation Club ownership until 2032.   The current owners have this week as part of 2 week ownership (weeks 11 & 12) within a 10 week portfolio of vacation club ownership in Funchal resorts, (6 weeks in 1st floor apartments at the Royal Savoy and 4 weeks in another Vacation Club).  These weeks, 11 and 12 can include Easter.   Weeks can be 'Banked' with the resort for use at another time.   The owners love the island and the resorts and currently visit the island 3 times each winter, but wish to consolidate their ownership from three times to twice each winter.   As they are now fully retired, they no longer need to holiday around English A Level Examination Marking.   This sale is the first stage in this consolidation (the other 8 weeks are not for sale).

The resort is within easy walking distance of Funchal, with its shops, restaurants and historic buildings.   The resort is a 20 minute journey from the airport by taxi, or Aerobus.

The first floor studios at the Royal Savoy are unique in having an arch front and floor to ceiling walls on each side.  In addition, unlike higher floors where the balcony front is largely a wall, the open rail frontage on the first floor allows a panoramic view of the gardens, pools and ocean when sitting, whereas at higher levels the view is restricted to the sky unless one is standing.  Thus the balcony is secluded, giving both shaded and sunny areas, and there is no sound from adjacent apartments.  Even on the few days when the weather is inclement the balcony is warm, normally in the mid 20s, and protected from wind and rain.  The 9m2 balcony is excellent for sun seekers, shade lovers and people watchers.
There are 2 lifts close to the apartment from 5th to Ground Floor (Pool Area).   There are 4 further lifts operating between 9th and Ground Floors.   Two of these lifts have glass fronts with views over the Ocean and Harbour.    Reception is on Floor 8.  The arrangement of floors is because the Resort is built against the cliff face with apartments facing in a southerly direction towards the ocean.   Floor 9 gives an alternative exit to nearby restaurants etc, via a bridge.

The resort was completed in 2002 with a very high standard of modern furniture and fittings.  The public areas are also furnished from the collection of antiques and paintings, from the resort owner's collection.   The studio itself is equipped with high quality cutlery, crockery and a wide variety of wine, spirit and soft drinks glasses.  There is a good range of high quality kitchen equipment.  These include saucepans, frying pans etc.  There is a high quality kettle, coffee machine and toaster.  An iron and ironing board are provided.  The approximately 38m2 studio has a compact kitchen area with largish mini-bar, dish washer and cupboards.  There are both convector microwave and ceramic hob.   Ice is available from Ice-Machines on the 3rd and 6th floors or from the Piano Bar.

There is a flat screen TV with DVD player, and the apartment has a free Wi-Fi link via a router within the apartment.  Free Wi-Fi also operates around the public areas including around pool areas.

There is ample storage with wardrobes both in the bedroom area and neighbouring corridor.  The bed, which has already been replaced once on refurbishment, is a high quality Super King Bed.   A personal safe is provided and operates with the guests pin code.   The bathroom has bath, walk-in shower, toilet, and bidet and hand basin with good lighting - and a shaving mirror.
There is a daily full maid service, which is completed with a chocolate on your pillow.   Towels and linen are regularly changed.   Robes and slippers are provided.

For the convenience of Vacation Club Owners a Cash-Free environment has been implemented within the Hotel.  Instead of carrying cash, payments are made by presenting the Room Key Card in Restaurants, Bars and Spa during the stay.   These payments receive a 10% food and beverage discount.   A new voucher system has been introduced with vouchers, for food and drink.  These vouchers give from 25% to 35% discount, depending on the value of the voucher chosen, when the normal discount is applied.

The 2 outside pools, children's pool with adjacent play area, Jacuzzi, together with loungers, towels and umbrellas are all free of charge.  There are excellent toilet and changing room facilities in the pool area.  Though the use of indoor pool, sauna, steam room, tropical shower and gymnasium are free, Spa treatments are charged.

Club members are provided with a membership card that gives a discount at many of the numerous excellent local restaurants and in the nearby supermarket.  

The restaurants on site are Armada Restaurant and at lunch time the Neptunus Snack Bar and Armada Deck.   The Piano Bar provides both a range of drinks, and live musical programme in the evenings.  The Armada Restaurant offers a variety of à la carte menus, with chef's culinary suggestions, buffet evenings, a weekly romantic dinner, and special events and gourmet events.   Room Service is available.

The grounds are well maintained with a variety of flowering plants, shrubs and different species of palm tree.   Grounds men, pool attendants and waiters are there to serve the guests.   The resort has a programme of maintenance and refurbishment.  In each year one week is used for maintenance that includes redecorating, sanding and treatment of wood floors and renovation of the high quality furniture.   In February 2015 refurbishment includes the replacement of the carpets throughout the public areas.

The Resort has a variety of daytime events: Pilates, aqua aerobics, scuba pool dive etc.   The Vacation Club staff and your personal representative can arrange tours, excursions, land rover trips, levada walks, and golf.    Each Tuesday late morning there is an opportunity for an informal meeting with your representative over a cup of coffee or a buck's fizz, and an occasion to meet fellow guests.   On the Tuesday Evening there is a 'cocktail party' where there is a further opportunity to meet fellow guests over wine, soft drinks and canapés.
