We have enjoyed our Christmas at Royal Savoy for the past 12 years. Week 51 being Christmas week there is plenty of entertainment taking place in Funchal. We look forward to our daily 10-15 minute walk into town for a coffee where we watch Madeiran dancing, listen to brass bands and local children's choirs singing Christmas songs; everything being celebrated in the traditional way. We return to favourite restaurants every year and are always greeted at the door with "lovely to see you again".

Sadly due to our advanced years and various health problems we have reluctantly decided the time has come to give up our very comfortable and spacious apartment. We will miss having breakfast on the large sunny balcony with uninterrupted views of the sea and watching the cruise ships arriving and departing.

The apartment has two bathrooms, large bedroom with walk-in wardrobe, kitchen, spacious lounge/dining area with sleeping facilities and glass sliding doors to the balcony from the lounge and bedroom. The balcony has a large table with 4 chairs and 2 comfortable loungers. The rooms are cleaned daily by excellent maids who always leave some chocolates on the bed!

It is like coming home when you arrive at the resort, you are met by the same people every year, your bags are taken care of immediately, and a welcome awaits you from very friendly and efficient reception staff. The cuisine is superb, especially the theme nights, and the efficient waiters do everything to ensure your stay is enjoyable. If you do venture down for breakfast you will be amazed at the massive choice (you can even skip lunch!).

The Royal Savoy is certainly 5 star in every respect.
