Narrowboat is located at Mercia Marina in Willington near Derby and run very effectively by Avante - their fleet of boats are easily recognisable with their Shakespearean names and boat colours. In our experience, the narrowboats are always provided in an excellent state with clean linen and all items needed to use the boat included, including initial tuition before letting you loose on the canal.

The resort is rated as RCI Gold Crown, showing its high quality standing.

The week allows access to Drayton Manor (great day out for adults and children alike) or Staffordshire in the West, or to the east, via River Trent to Nottingham, both excellent canal cruising. In between is the town of Burton-on-Trent or the village of Alrewas for easy access to the National Arboretum. The countryside is beautiful in the mani, some close roads but it's easy to become detached from the faster pace of life today.

This week is fixed as Week 35, which works out as end of August/early September, which is in school holidays and close or including August Bank Holiday. The week can be converted to a Red week, allowing access to all weeks in peak period. We preferred having the fixed week, without any hassle of deciding which week and checking availability, this week is guaranteed. We have always used the week within the family.

Weather, even in August, is mixed but we have had some amazing weather, as well as a few wet days.

Car parking is easily available in the marina and collecting the narrowboat and returning is very easy and convenient.
