I bought a single bedroom apartment at Fairways, Tenerife, in 1990, when I was single. I joined RCI and exchanged my apartment successfully for many years (eg. skiing in Colorado) before visiting the resort for the first time in 1999, by which time I was married with two children. We loved it and decided to upgrade to a two-bedroom apartment. At first we stayed in the apartment we had chosen, but continued to exchange our week with RCI occasionally to visit other resorts in the Bahamas, Majorca, Italy, Sicily, Spain and Egypt, all equally good. When our week became a floating week, we tried two other two-bedroom apartments at Fairways and found them equally comfortable and convenient, all with spectacular views from the sizeable balconies (see photos, a view from each of the three apartments we used). When we visited, we chose the apartment that most suited our needs at the time - when the children were young, we wanted peace and quiet, so had the apartment set back from the pool area, but as they got older we wanted a view over the pool so we could see them - as they spent most of the day playing out there.

The apartments are all equally well maintained and equipped, and more than comfortable. They are roomy, and with two bathrooms, it is ideal for families, as we are not falling over each other all the time. Extensive TV channels means both kids and adults are catered for.

Being close to the airport, only 10 minutes drive away, is really convenient, as we take a car from the airport when we arrive, pick up our groceries at the supermarket on the way, and are in the apartment ready to holiday within an hour of landing. Being set in the middle of a golf course is ideal for me, as a golfer, as I take a 5-iron and a ball with me every evening and go for a walk. There is so much to do and see in Tenerife, especially if you hire a car (which you can do for about £100 a week), and Fairways is the perfect base to operate from, and then to return to for a really relaxing time. The facilities at Fairways are all good, including a small supermarket across the road, and you can spend a whole week never leaving if you want to. During school holiday periods they hire an events organizer, so children are catered for.

Regrettably as the children have grown up and are now leaving home or more interested in going on holiday with their friends, and my wife has taken up sailing so that she no longer wants to spend a week by a pool, I am left with a holiday home that only I use. I love it, but can no longer justify keeping it, so am reluctantly selling it. I hope any buyer has as much enjoyment out of it as we have done.
