The Pestana Village is a medium-sized resort built in a traditional style set in a large garden less than two kilometres from the centre of Funchal and close to the see. The garden is approximately 5000 square meters and has lots of interesting flowers and trees and the houses are low and have a cosy feeling. The resort is a 20 minute drive from the airport.

There are 92 apartments, mostly studios, and the resort has a large outdoor pool. The resort is located next-door to a sister resort, the Pestana Miramar, which have another garden and an indoor and an outdoor pool which also can be used. If you would like to get access to a beach this can be done through a third resort, the Pestana Carlton Madeira.

The resort has all amenities that you would expect, for example a 24-hour desk which is very helpful.

The studio is located 2 storeys height above ground and is large enough to comfortable sleep 3 persons in two twin beds and one sofa bed but is not so large that it feels deserted if you are a single.

There is a small kitchen, large enough so you can enjoy a private breakfast or a lighter meal but not so large that you feel that you have to do the cooking all the time. There is a table in the kitchen or you can choose to sit on your own balcony overlooking the garden. The studio has of course a well-equipped bathroom with a tub with a shower. Cleaning is done on a daily basis.

If you do not want to make your own meals the resort has a few on-site restaurants and bars or you can step outside from the resort and visit some of the local restaurants. Since the town centre is located only a 20 minute walk from the resort there are many possibilities. You can also take a local bus which has a stop outside from the resort.

We used to stay several weeks every year on Madeira, enjoying the food, the natural beauty and walking along levadas but due to poor health we have to reduce our travelling. Sadly we now feel we have to leave our last week with ownership until 2026.
