Certainly one for the outdoor enthusiast, Los Abrigados makes a good base for all sorts of fun activities in nature, including hiking, horseback riding and countrified tours. The 22-acre estate sits against Oak Creek and is strewn with winding walkways, fountains and trees, with the foothills of Red Rock Country looking on.

There are close to 200 rooms at this very Spanish looking complex, most of which are in the central Inn, a private place but one which features a great many amenities, including a swimming pool and spa. The site is also strewn with cottages to add further privacy for families, groups or couples.

Timeshare units are typically spotless, with tiled floors, comfy king sized beds and couches and air conditioning. WiFi internet and cable TV come as standard, along with a kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave oven and coffee maker. Rooms also have a large balcony or terrace looking out onto manicured grounds.

For dining, Steak & Sticks is a big hit, with its tasty steaks, wood-fired pizzas, foods of the region and cocktails. As a sports bar, it also features billiards and live sports on the many flat-screen TVs dotted about. You can dine inside or al fresco style. In addition is a poolside bar, which has a shallow section and fountain for the kids. Other amenities on site at Los Abrigados Resort & Spa include a mini golf course, basketball, barbecue and picnic areas, a tennis courts and of course the spa. They offer full treatments here, including a fabulous one-hour hot rocks massage. Simply wandering the sprawling grounds of this stunning resort complex is often rewarding enough.

Los Abrigados is also strolling distance away from the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, while also nearby is Sedona itself with its shops, eateries and bars. It’s a bustling, arty town with a fabulous cityscape backed by the nature of this spectacular Red Rocks region. There are all sorts of art festivals and events held here, too, and the nearby mountain biking and hiking terrain is unbeatable. Sedona is well connected with Flagstaff and Phoenix (north and south respectively) via I-17.
