Our apartment is on the carousel at the Royal Savoy Funchal and is an ideal room for anybody who likes to either go on tours or use the pool in the morning and then after lunch relax on the balcony as the sun comes around in the afternoon. There are 2 balconies one large and one smaller. The main bedroom has an en suite complete with bath, shower, WC, bidet, hair dryer, complimentary bathrobes/slippers and a selection of fine toiletries. It has a walk in wardrobe with security safe and plenty of storage space. There is a flat screen TV, its own smaller private balcony for privacy if required. It has a window looking directly out to sea as well as the patio doors leading onto the balcony. The guest room has its own shower room with WC and Bidet, hair dryer, complimentary bathrobes and slippers with a selection of guest toiletries. It has a walk in wardrobe and a patio door leading to the large balcony. There is a well equipped kitchen off the living area, complete with a refrigerator essential for keeping the wine chilled for lazy afternoons on the balcony! There is a separate living area with a sofa bed, flat screen TV, Internet, DVD surround sound system; should you require further accommodation to suit six people there is a sofa bed which the housekeeping staff are more than happy to set up/put away for you on a daily basis. (Mattress toppers are available if required). There is a screen for extra privacy for the guests using the sofa bed.

Daily maid service is provided by the hotel; the hotel offers special breakfast and meal packages for those not wanting to self-cater and the quality of the restaurant is excellent, which is what you would expect from a hotel of this standard.

The hotel itself is 5 star, winning several awards and being rated amongst one of the finest resorts in the world, the Royal Savoy Hotel is in a lovely location on the island of Madeira with breathtaking views over the city, mountains and ocean. It is within walking distance of the old town, but those with disabilities may find the walk back uphill difficult and a taxi is advised. The taxi charges are very reasonable in Funchal.

The hotel complex is extremely well laid out and lets you appreciate the beautiful views of the ocean. There is a wide variety of leisure facilities and entertainment including a heated indoor pool, a gym and a sauna, plus a Jacuzzi, beauty salon, lovely restaurants and a piano bar (complete with nightly entertainment). Outside there is a are pool bar, two pools (one a sea-water pool) with children's splash pool, a sundeck and terraces, The gardens provide shady areas if required with fountains and a water cascade. There is private sea access and outdoor games area.

There are a variety of tours that can be taken around the island and there are many attractions in Funchal itself. Beautiful gardens, cable car, museum, Churches, a fascinating market and an abundance of restaurants. During the month of June there are usually spectacular firework displays on a Saturday evening in Funchal harbour!

The hotel will arrange transport to and from the airport at very reasonable rates (The hotel is approx. 23 km from the airport and the journey to the Savoy takes around. 20 mins by taxi).
