Le Villas at Le Meridien, Limassol, are well placed between Paphos and Larnaca airports making it very accessible from the UK and easy to get to once you have arrived in Cyprus, there is a motorway extending almost the entire length of the South coast of the island. We have tended to favour Larnaca, for no reason other than it was the airport we used on our first trip to Cyprus in the year 2000 and it is only a 40 min drive on a familiar side of the road. There is a large supermarket on the way to Les Villas from Larnaca, so you can stock up on the first day essentials before you reach your destination.

There are many things to see and do in Cyprus: close to Les Villas is Governor's Beach, a secluded bay for safe paddling and quiet enjoyment once you have taken the steps down from the car park. Then there is Lefkara, the home of Cyprus Lace, a delightful tourist village in the mountains. A little further away is Limassol town some 11km and a 15 minute drive from Les Villas, but if you don't feel like driving you can take the local bus from outside the Main Gate. Week 36 usually coincides with the end of the Limassol Wine Festival and our son who went with his friends said it was well worth a visit.

Further a field to the West of the Island are the Troodos mountains, a two hour drive away but if you visit Cyprus in the Winter, you can ski in the morning, returning to Les Villas in the afternoon for a spot of sun bathing in the adult only pool area of Le Meridien with its private access to the beach.

Cyprus is an island with the divided capital city of Nicosia, less than 1 hour drive from Les Villas, but here you can walk through the Old Town, down Ledera Street to the Green Line and No Man's Land. On the way back, catch the lift in the Debenhams building up to the view point and look out over Northern Cyprus. You can cross the border easily here now and spend a day in the Turkish North - visit Kyrenia a lovely fishing village.
Lawrence Durrell (brother of the naturalist Gerald Durrell) wrote "Bitter Lemons of Cyprus" about his life in Cyprus when he was living in Bellapais, another Northern Cyprus village with a beautiful ruined Abbey. In the book, he mentions passing the time drinking coffee under the Tree of Idleness in the village!!

The unit is very comfortable for a family of four, or two couples. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one twin and one double bedroom, both with wardrobes. There is an upstairs bathroom with over-bath shower. Downstairs is an open plan lounge-diner with good storage including an in-suite safe and a sofa bed for two more close friends. It is categorised as a 6/4 unit, sleeping 6 but private bedrooms for only 4 persons. There is a downstairs shower room and a partially furnished kitchen. Should you want to cook, there is a microwave with integral grill but there is no conventional oven or electric rings. The sliding doors open onto a secluded patio (which has access to the main grounds of the complex), complete with table, garden chairs, parasol and loungers. The unit has air-conditioning, an essential in the Summer heat, with individual controls in the lounge area and the bedrooms.

We have taken and enjoyed many family holidays at Les Villas since 2004, but our needs have now changed and sadly we must part with our unit.

A car will make life easier when staying at Les Villas, but taxis and the local bus are good alternatives.

Les Villas is RCI affiliated and if you are members, this brings a discount scheme on all food and beverage taken at the Hotel. Le Villas has secure underground parking with direct access to Le Meridien reception area which is manned 24 hours a day.

All facilities of the complex are available to RCI owners and their guests, but additional fees will apply for some activities.

Being affiliated with RCI, we have exchanged this unit for Canal Boating in the UK, self catering in Madeira and self catering in Spain. We have also exchanged this September week for a July week at Les Villas without difficulty.
