Pestana Palms is one of the smaller resorts in Funchal and one of the closest to the city center.  It is a pleasant 20 minute walk down into town past Reid's and some of the huge new resorts grouped around the Casino.  The Tower with our apartment has its footings directly in the sea and there is an absolutely uninterrupted sea view looking in the direction of Funchal.  The resort has a huge outdoor pool with access to the sea for swimming, snorkeling and diving.  There is a small gym and sauna and Jacuzzi. There is a wonderful members clubhouse in the villa which was the family residence until the resort was created.  The clubhouse contains a library, a bar and an upscale a la carte restaurant.  There is also the hotel restaurant serving buffet meals and offering live entertainment.  The gardens are well tended and from all points the sea views are magnificent.  Funchal has a climate offering year round comfort to the visitor.
