Having owned our studio for 10 years we are able to recall so many happy memories...

Our week begins by being met by our taxi driver who whisks us along the panoramic coast road to the hotel. The doorman who is a fund of stories and information helps us to reception where the staff always makes us feel relaxed and welcome. The studio is beautifully prepared for us but we make our way straight to the balcony for a view of the pool area and sea - there might be another cruise ship making a careful approach.

The first evening, feeling tired from our travels, we will probably go to one of our favourite restaurants a few minutes' walk away but there are so many to choose from in the town. The next morning we will take our first cup of tea onto the balcony to see the spectacular sunrise.

After breakfast we walk down the hill into town where there is a relaxed atmosphere. The market is a must to see the fish and flowers, perhaps another visit to the cathedral, or the cable ride up to the Monte gardens, and of course there is always shopping..

Some days it is always a delight to select a quiet spot by the pool with a good book, snorkel with the fish in the safe, clear and warm waters of the small bay. Enjoy a beer, then lunch at the pool restaurant followed by a doze and taking in all the many and varied activities, including the return of the galleon. However we have to give some thought to the choice of restaurant for dinner and happily to realise we still have many more days on this interesting island to come.

We will miss our visits to Madeira but we take away so many wonderful memories to new adventures.
