The resort Golden Sands Island Residence Club is situated on the North-west coast region of the island of Malta called Ghajn Tuffieha. It is affiliated with Interval International exchange company. The resort is adjacent to a sandy beach and the North-West Nature and History Park. The nearest town is Bugibba, a tourist resort with many restaurants, bars and a cinema.
With Public transport links, one can reach anywhere on the island, including the airport but the resort offers airport transfer which takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
The resort has an outdoor pool, an indoor heated pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, a gym, nine restaurants and bars, a spa, a fitness centre and a hair salon. Activities and tours are organised by the resort. There is always something to do and have fun, like Yoga, Pilates, bike tours, walking tours and water sport activities including diving.
There is a public sandy beach and a private beach adjacent to the resort but other near beaches are St. Paul's Bay and Mellieha Bay.
For culture and history one is encouraged to visit Valletta, Mdina, Cospicua, Birgu and Isla. Mdina used to be the capital city but then the knights built Valletta and is still to this present day the capital city. The Mosta Dome is famous for the 2nd world war bomb that fell through the dome of the church during a service and miraculously did not explode. The bomb is on display in the church. For shopping one can go to Sliema and Valletta but shops are spread all over the island. Enjoy a long stroll on the sea front in Sliema or Bugibba. Take a short trip by boat to Blue Grotto from Wied iz-Zurrieq. Blue Grotto is a nice natural cave in the sea with gorgeous crystal clear water and fabulous experience of colours on the sea bed.
Take a ferry from Cirkewwa terminal to the sister island of Gozo and experience more countryside and more tranquility with less traffic and congestion. Another boat from the terminal can take you to Comino, a very small island which can be experienced on foot. The blue lagoon is famous for boats and yachts.
There is one golf course on the island and is found in Marsa.
The timeshare has a floating week with changeover days being Tuesdays and Fridays. It is classified as a Gold season and can be used during the months of January to May and October to December which include Christmas, New Year and Easter times.
The unit is a studio with a capacity to sleep two persons. It has one bathroom, a double bed, a sitting area with a television and table, a kitchen and dining table. There is also an ironing facility, air conditioning, WiFi, and a small safe deposit compartment. It is situated at the third floor and is serviced by an elevator. There is a balcony large enough to accommodate a table and two chairs. The balcony is North-facing overlooking the North-West Nature and History park. The resort has a small parking space but outside the entrance there is another public parking space.
The timeshare gold season period coincides with the following festive events:
January to May: Pantomime, Feast of St. Paul, Carnival and Easter
October to December: Notte Bianca in Valletta, In Guardia parade in Birgu (re-enactment), Grand Prix in Mdina (static display of well-restored vintage cars), BirguFest in Birgu (Food stalls in candle-lit streets, open churches and reduced-price entry to museums), Malta Military tatoo in Mdina, Rolex middle sea race (Sailing boat race from Grand Harbour to Sicily and back covering 606 nautical miles), Operas in Valletta.
