The apartment is located at the Royal Savoy Resort which has a 5 Star rating, and is considered to be one of the World's best holiday Resorts. It is situated 1.5 miles from Funchal (Capital City of Madeira) and 30 minutes car ride from the airport which is located at the East end of the Island. The Royal Savoy Resort has all the on-site facilities including two outdoor swimming pools, one indoor heated pool, and access to sea bathing with lifeguard supervision. There is a poolside bar and restaurant with a roving waiter service, to bring food and refreshments to your particular sunbed location.  Next to it the indoor pool is a fully equipped gym with showers and saunas nearby. Within the building (which has at least 8 lifts) there are two top class restaurants, which also supply meals to your apartment if required. There is entertainment each evening in the bar on the ground floor with special guests. In addition the Resort has special evenings which encourages interest in Madeiran Folk dances with residents participation if desired.

The Resort is linked with Interval International with whom you can deposit your week at the Savoy, and take another equivalent holiday in other locations around the World. Alternatively you can save your week, and have two weeks at the Savoy the following year.

The Resort organises trips to interesting locations on the Island generally including stops for meals. Once a knowledge of the Island has been acquired, car hire enables many of the Island's attractions to be reached. ( e.g. Levada walks- The Islands Plateau- and the highest peak in Madeira). Underground Car-Parking are available at The Royal Savoy Resort.

Our apartment is a 2 bedroom Lock-off unit on the 7th floor which can sleep up to 6 people. Each bedroom has its own wardrobe area, shower, bath, washbasin, toilet and bidet. The other bed is made up from the lounge settee by the chamber maids each evening. There is a separate toilet and washbasin facility available for their use. There are two separate balconies, one for the main area and one for the lock-off unit. Both balconies have uninterrupted panoramic views of the harbour, the Eastern coastline, the Atlantic Ocean, and can be used for secluded sunbathing.  The Lock-off Unit has its own entrance door, but there is a connecting door to the rest of the apartment. Each bedroom and the lounge area has its own TV and DVD facilities, and there is air-conditioning for each area. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric hob and oven, a microwave oven, fridge, and dishwasher. The fridge can be pre-stocked prior to your arrival by arrangement with the membership services. There is a daily maid service who cleans throughout, makes the beds, and puts used crockery into the dishwasher.

Our week is 35 which was selected for two reasons. The first is that it is outside the School Holiday period, giving rise to a more tranquil holiday environment. The second reason is that the temperature is not so stiflingly hot in September, and you are able to sunbathe without being roasted.

It is with great reluctance that we are putting our apartment up for sale. My wife and I have had 12 year of happiness at the Royal Savoy Resort. Alas! Age and infirmities have finally caught up with us, and we are no longer able to fly to Madeira. However we hope that the purchaser will have as much enjoyment and pleasure that we have had during the occupancy of the apartment.
