The Pines Resort New Zealand

The Pines ResortWanaka, New Zealand

The Pines Resort is situated on a quiet dead-end street in the heart of the second largest holiday destination in the Otago region of southern New Zealand. Wanaka's main business precinct is a mere five minute walk away from these 26 two floor chalet style timeshares, each of which leads to its own peaceful courtyard.

Each of the two bedrooms in these spacious self service apartments can comfortably hold at least half a dozen people, while each private bathroom boasts its own spa and two toilets. All master beds are queen-sized, while each second bedroom contains a trundle bed and a couple of single beds. Lounge rooms include fold-out settees.

Microwave ovens and dishwashers are part of each fully equipped kitchen. Guests can unwind in front of a VCR and television each evening after long days of exploring nearby Lake Wanaka and the Southern Alps.

Although the property lacks a full service restaurant, there are plenty of gas barbecues guests can use to grill their own meals. Wireless broadband internet access is provided for an extra fee.

This Monad Pacific Management property's onsite entertainment options include a games room with a ping pong table, sauna, glass-housed heated swimming pool, spa pool, half sized tennis court, children's playground, and a Petanque court. The resort also rents fishing rods, golf clubs, bicycles, and canoes to guests wishing to take advantage of Lake Wanaka's wide variety of outdoor activities.

Queenstown is the only Otago community which welcomes more guests per year than Wanaka, a picturesque retreat which wraps around Lake Wakitipu within view of the stunning Southern Alps. The nearby Mount Aspiring National Park World Heritage Area is named after the highest of its several spectacular snow-capped peaks.

Reputable timeshare exchange company RCI recently presented the Pines Resort with Go Green, Silver Crown, and Hospitality awards. The busiest times of year are the ski season, which peaks in July and August, and December, when the weather is warm and Wanaka's population temporarily increases from 5,000 to 25,000.

Although Wanaka's own small airport is just eight kilometres outside of town, Queenstown Airport, 60kms away, offers a larger variety of flights across New Zealand and Australia. Hire car and Wanaka Connexions, the main bus network, are the main ground transportation options.
