The Tudor-style Miskin Manor Country Club may have been built in 1864, but the history of this mid-Glamorgan Victorian manor house dates from the 10th century. Gardens, forests, and the River Ely provide the surrounding scenery for these stately stone lodges.
Despite this estate's centuries-old history, its timeshares still contain full kitchens and plenty of other modern conveniences. Private balconies overlook the cricket club ground and historic antiques are displayed throughout the property. Although most timeshares are double rooms, there are also a handful of single rooms.
A sauna and steam room are located within the health club's spa area alongside a gym and outdoor swimming pool. Courts are available for tennis and squash. Personal trainers and treatments are provided on request. The award-winning on-site restaurant serves modern British meals and traditional Welsh afternoon tea.
Miskin Manor Country Club contains a number of function rooms suitable for business conferences or private parties. The Oak Room faces lovely rose gardens, while the Cedar Room boasts an impressive stone fireplace and collection of Welsh military regalia. The larger Minstrel Hall and Terrace Spacing room are popular wedding venues. The smaller Garden Room is an intimate afternoon tea spot.
Cardiff, Swansea, and the closest airport are all no more than a 20-minute car journey away along the nearby M4. London lies two hours east of this former Welsh bard's regal residence.
