Overlooking the ocean in Madeira’s attractive tourist village of Canico de Baiza is the modern, six-storey Four Views Oasis resort hotel offering spacious, modern suite-style rooms with ensuite facilities and full air-conditioning. Fully refurbished just three years ago using an eco-friendly theme, the accommodation sleeps between two and four persons.
With its ocean-front position backing lovely Reis Magos Beach, the hotel is great for families and couples, although the steep gradients of the town may not suit older holidaymakers. Amenities include outdoor and indoor pools, a gym, sauna and spa, an in-house scuba-diving school, a-la-carte and buffet restaurants and a poolside café.
The pretty, private gardens are well-maintained, and there’s nightly entertainment regularly featuring the island’s traditional dances and music. Just a short stroll away you’ll find eateries, local shops and bars, and nearby Canico offers a more varied choice of restaurants. Reviews of the hotel are excellent, with its restaurant and great service getting well-deserved and frequent mentions.
Madeira is a comparatively small island, easily toured by hired car. Funchal, its historic capital, is just a short trip away and is famed for its beauty and heritage architecture. The island’s dramatic, mountainous interior holds traditional villages set along superb scenic drives, and its rugged coastline boasts white-painted fishing villages perched on rugged cliffs.
