Forte Sao Joao Portugal

The spacious timeshare units of the well positioned Forte Sao Joao are a big hit with couples and families, located as they are near to the popular Fishermans Beach and old town of Albufeira. This is the long Praia dos Pescadores beach that graces most postcards and puts holidaymakers within earshot of activities, restaurants and entertainment.

Along with being close to the beach and town, Forte Sao Joao is kept spotlessly clean and is smaller and easier going than many accommodations in this busy resort town. The timeshare units are nicely decked out and boast fine ocean views on account of their lofty positioning.

The timeshare complex is systematically laid out in a crescent shape around an open pool area, which features a large sundeck and kiddie section. A pool bar is nearby for beverages and snacks and there is also a restaurant with international food as well as the taste of Portugal. Other amenities include an exercise room, sauna and steam room.

Timeshare units come in studios and one- and two-bedroom apartment format, each of which features a TV, air conditioning and a kitchenette with washer and dryer. There is also a minimart and a full service restaurant onsite. The main beach is a few minutes’ stroll away from Forte Sao Joao; the town and its busy shops and marina area a bit further.

Forte Sao Joao resides within the newer part of Albufeira, known as The Strip (Carneira Avenue), with the beaches a few minutes to the south and the old town about 15 minutes to the west. Along with the main Praia dos Pescadores beach, there is Praia da Oura, which is close to the timeshare resort. Beyond the old town is Praia do Peneco beach, which is accessible from town through a tunnel.

All of these beaches are well equipped with seating, loungers and parasols and there is good swimming, water sports activities and lifeguards. The town sits right behind and is great for shopping and eating, while the Moorish Castelo de Almoáda makes for a stunning side attraction.

Buses and taxis run throughout Albufeira and there are shuttles to the resort from Faro International Airport, 20 minutes to the east of Forte Sao Joao. A popular side trip in between is the chilled out resort town of Vilamoura with its quality golf courses, marina and casino, and there are quaint coastal and mountain villages all around this area.
