The port and rail station serving the busy community of Balatonföldvár on the shores of Lake Balaton are both less than 500m away from Fonix Club Hotel. Guests at this renovated old villa can choose between 21 double bedrooms or a larger apartment capable of holding up to six people.

The larger apartment contains three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a couple of bathrooms. All timeshares, however, feature computer connections, private safes, and televisions. Most, but not all, units are air conditioned, so guests wanting this feature should request it in advance. Smoking is permitted only in a designated smoking area.

This four star establishment also boasts its fair share of recreation facilities. Summer guests can enjoy playing on the standard size tennis court, swimming in the open air pool, or lounging on the sunbathing terrace. Indoor activities like table tennis, darts, a sauna, and card and board games are available all year round.

Diners can enjoy dishes from throughout Hungary and the world in a candlelit garden when the weather co-operates. The chef will accommodate food allergies or any other special dietary needs. Many of Hungary's finest wines are on the menu of the intimate pub.

The staff speak English and German in addition to Hungarian, and can arrange for small meetings of up to 60 people. Staff rent both electric and standard bicycles to guests, and will also provide mounting kits, locks, and food and drink to anyone wishing to explore this cyclist friendly community.

Many nearby attractions, however, are just as easy to reach on foot, including the Holy Cross Church and Lake Balaton itself. Balatonföldvár is named after the town's two most prominent landmarks, the lake and the Celtic hill fort, known as földvár, which has guarded Lake Balaton's south side since the Iron Age.

Fonix Club Hotel is conveniently located north of Petőfi Sándor Utca, the street where many of Hungary's most prominent people lived, including the doctor who first established Balatonföldvár as one of the country's most famous bathing resorts over a decade ago. Another house on this street was a popular gathering place for many of the country's well known poets and authors.

The nearest airport may be 122kms to the northeast in Budapest, but Fonix Club Hotel timeshare holders can easily make the journey by bus, train, or automobile thanks to the property's close proximity to the Balatonföldvár rail station and two major motorways.
